The Project: Sound Design for American Express Lounge Activation at US OPEN
Created sound effects and composed music for a multifaceted activation in the American Express Lounge at the US Open 2019. First- a packet of sound effects for a life-size game of ‘pong’- called “Borough Ball” evoking memories of 8bit video game classics.
The larger of the projects “Rally Remix” involved creating, editing and composing samples and music for an interactive “step sequencer” where visitors create their own musical soundscape by interacting with a large subway map wall to trigger audio samples (ball hits, sneaker squeaks, Venus Williams soundbites) by placing tennis balls into the map. These samples were built to play musically along with a backing beat and six backing tracks of genres representative of New York City’s unique boroughs. (Lower East Side- Punk, Upper West Side- Orchestra, Bronx- Hip Hop, Brooklyn- Electro Dance, Queens- Latin, Harlem- Jazz)
